Monday Morning You Look So Fine: Long Distance Runner.

(First off, apologies for the Wednesday evening addition... Monday morning saw me in internet limbo...) Been waking up with sunrise and my iPod the last few... even on the days that I get in those scant few hours before I wake. Worth it.

Keep pushing, keep an eye out for work coming soon to Speakerbox, concerning this weekend with Van Coke Kartel and my new hero Herman Pretorius. In the meantime, a new experience with the man I love to fly with (as I have before) seeing as he was kind enough to name me as his person of choice to stagedive alongside.

Thanks to Brendan Holtshousen (and whomever was involved at Machine Room) for uploading the shots of what led to mine... sadly, this is the only worthwhile shot (and even that's a stretch) as the heat from the crowd and the flying mud caused the lens to fog up in three seconds flat. But yeah... keep on keeping on, and for the rest of those shots from that crazy night, click here to go to the Speakerbox gallery.

"The farther I go the less I know,
One foot goes in front of the other,
It all boils around to not hanging around,
To keep moving in front of the gravity.

The answer is there, the answer is there,
but there is not a fixed position.

It keeps moving along, so I keep coming along
and that's why I'm a long distance runner.

And if I stop to catch my breath,
I might catch a piece of death.
I can't keep your pace if I want to finish this race...
My fight's not with you,
It's with the gravity.

Long distance runner." - Fugazi, Long Distance Runner

Monday Morning You Look So Fine: New Year's Prayer.

I'm back. Been a while since December 27th... much has happened. The details will surely filter through later. Took a New Year's month, rather than a New Year's Day. It's not as if I sleep... speaking of which...

"Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light...,
Feel no shame for what you are,

As you no
w are in your blood
Fall in light.

Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing,

Past the sound within the sound,

Past the voice within the voice.

Leave your office,

Run past your funeral,

Leave your home, car,

Leave your pulpit.

Join us in the streets where we...

Join us in the streets where we...

Don’t belong, don’t belong...

You and the stars,

Throwing light."
- Jeff Buckley, New Year's Prayer

That, and a scene that keeps playing in my mind (whenever I am asked why there's a smoke in my hand):

Danny: My wife left me. I was upset. I fell into a self-destructive pattern.
Parole Board Member #3: If released, is it likely you'd fall back into a similar pattern?
Danny: She already left me once. I don't think she'd do it again just for kicks.

And if you are a 12-year-old blogger from a university town who feels the need to comment on people's personal lives... Don't. My (ex-)wife gets the joke. Fact is, our divorce is probably better than your relationship.

(Oh no he didn't!)
